http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050531/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush

And where the hell were these human rights groups when.....

Nick Berg, Paul Johnson, and the other hostages were beheaded by the animals, sorry Islamic insurgents, rka- really known as- TERRORISTS?

Saddam gasses, blew up, and gunned down over 100,000+ Kurds in his 25 year rule?

The Roach That Won't Die: Forsake The Troops

OK, we've been over this, before. Michael Crook, the disgusting liberal Douche is still posting his site, www.forsakethetroops.info and now wants a new site, www.foresakethecops.info to be a hit! Make it a hit! Make it popular! Send him so many angry messages that he'll go bonkers! Traffic that site, til it shuts down! And to make sure this roach DOES crawl back into the dark, communicate your disgust with his server, their sponsors, and send word to many across the US. Call your TALK RADIO guys and e-mail them. They will have a field day with this mumbnuts! And if you can, let our troops know about this, so if they're off duty or on leave, they can pay him a visit! Hell yeah! Make him "popular" with a few angry HITS.

More EU Stir Ups, France es Lame

The Francais voted against the EU Constitution and that seens great right? Maybe not. Jacques Chirac now has a new Premier, the infamous anti-American Foreign Minister, secretary of non-Diplomacy, Dominique De Villipen. So, what we have now, is a two-headed assbeast! Each head virulently anti-American. And each as bad as the other...... Oh yeah, since France is not part of the EU Constitution, they are keeping their Seat on the UN Security Council. Sigh....

Well, if you haven't been tracking world money markets this may suprise you. The Euro, the so-called supercurrency of the future is down. And so down, that the French vote against the EU Constitution, has put it at a 7 month low. Wow!

All I have to say is AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

THEIR TODAY FOR OUR TOMORROW

On this Memorial Day, 2005 I would like to say a few things.

Thanks to all of our troops and the families of the lost loved ones......

I pray for all of our troops right now, and pray for their families and loved ones.

Remember this:

They gave THEIR Today, for OUR Tomorrow.

They've done so since Spring of 1775, when 77 Minutemen challenged about 800 British soldiers. "Do not fire, unless fired upon. If they want a war, let it begin here!"
Since 1775, at Lexington Green, 2 Million American men and women have given their lives in protection of our country, but also the salvation of other lands and enslaved peoples.

Those men and women are remembered from:

Lexington Green to Leyte Gulf
Boston Massacre to Bastogne
Fort Sumter to Fallujah
Gettysburg to Afghanistan
Yorktown to Tet
Pearl Harbor to the Pentagon attack
Bunker Hill to Baghdad
Iwo Jima to Ia Drang
John Paul Jones battles to Midway
New Orleans to 9/11

and currently in Iraq.......

It is not a fashionable thing to support our troops, says the current wave of demonic journalists. They are right, it is not fashionable.

It's American to do so! It's patriotic! It's fitting! And it's human to do so! It's the least we owe them for the lives they sacrificed! And this is the least we can do for God's children: our fallen brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers; all servants to Him, protectors for all!

"Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God."- Matthew 5: 9

"Greater love have no man, than he who lays down his life for his friends...."- John 15: 13

"Is life so precious that it should be preserved with the chains of slavery? Permit it not. I know not what others may say, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"- Patrick Henry

"Blessed is the nation, whose God is The Lord."- Psalms 33: 12

"May the Bless you and keep you; may The Lord make his face shine upon you, And be gracious unto you, May he lift up His divine countenance upon you. And give you peace....."- Number2 6:24-26.

TO OUR CURRENT AND PAST VETERANS THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICES AND BRAVERY. TO THE SOULS OF THOSE FALLEN SOLDIERS, WE HOPE TO SEE YOU IN HEAVEN WITH THE LORD.......

Take Care, and May Christ Bless you all.

New Threat to US/Mexico Border: Mexican Anti-Drug Troops!

Sadly we should have seen this. The US trained an army of anti-drug Mexican troops, and commandos. Now they have switched sides and are likely to kill anyone in their way, and interfering with being paid to keep drug traffic safe for their bosses..... And that includes The Minutemen. Bad enough the MS-13 are declaring death orders for all "gringos" and "Norteamericanos" ON OUR NATIVE SOIL, now they have a professional army with them.

WHY THE HELL DON'T WE HAVE OUR TROOPS AT THE BORDER????

Priscilla Owen Confirmed At High Price

OK, finally, after 4 years, US 5th Circuit Court Judge nominee Priscilla Owen will get her up or down vote. No doubt, she will get confirmed. However, at what price?

First, Owen has been maligned and rumored to be an extremist. Wow, she's a Christian and pro-life, that's sooooo far out of the mainstream. Yeah, if you're the NY Times. Despite Owen's record and jurisprudence, the likes of Ted Kennedy and Barbara Boxer called her a NEANDERTHAL and AN EXTREMIST. The drunk and the old witch need to shut it. However, Owen has made it through.

Second, it cost the majority. Well, maybe not, since they gave up so quick. Now the DNC and liberals have retained the minority privilege to whine and bitch about every nominee that they don't personally like. The Sell-Out 7 may think they saved the Senate, all they did was save backstabbing and other nasty rhetoric. Thanks a heap, McCain.

Third, the process has costed the US people their patience. Many are sick of the whining from Boxer, Chuckie Schumer and the other Communists. More over, the conservatives may jump the GOP ship over this. Why the GOP is not acting like it won the elections is beyond me.

Yeah, Owen is getting confirmed, and the fillibuster was temporarily halted, but at what cost?

Plenty, says I.

Screw the NY Times and Patricia Cohen for bashing this book! This lady ought to realize herself and her ancestors would have been air pollution were it not for the bravery of the Greatest Generation. Victory for Whom?

Yesterday 14 moderates, 7 Dems and 7 RINOs compromised on the fillibuster deal. Some say it's a victory but for whom:

OK, here's what went right.
-Nominees like Priscilla Owen and Janice Brown got the up and down vote option.
-The Fillibuster threat was stopped here.
-Other nominees may make it through.

Here's What is Wrong:
-Democrats can hold power to fillibuster, later.
-Democrats can fillibuster when they determine what are extraneous circumstances for nominees- ie they're Christians.
-GOP cow-towed and did not exercise its MAJORITY TRADITION.

Wow, give us a drink before you do us like that. Thanks a heap, McCain you moron!

Iraq is No Vietnam

Beating a Dead Parrot
Why Iraq and Vietnam have nothing whatsoever in common.
By Christopher Hitchens
Posted Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at 1:16 PM PT

There it was again, across half a page of the New York Times last Saturday, just as Iraqis and Kurds were nerving themselves to vote. "Flashback to the 60's: A Sinking Sensation of Parallels Between Iraq and Vietnam." The basis for the story, which featured a number of experts as lugubrious as they were imprecise, was the suggestion that South Vietnam had held an election in September 1967, and that this propaganda event had not staved off ultimate disaster. I can't quite tell why this article was not printed on the day before the Afghan or Palestinian elections, or at any of the times when Iranian voters overwhelmingly chose reform candidates but were thwarted by the entrenched reserve strength of the theocracy. But perhaps now is the moment to state the critical reasons why there is no reasonable parallel of any sort between Iraq and Vietnam.

To begin with, Vietnam had been undergoing a protracted struggle for independence since before World War II and had sustained this struggle militarily and politically against the French empire, the Japanese empire, and then after 1945 the French empire again. By 1954, at the epic battle of Dien Bien Phu, the forces of Ho Chi Minh and Gen. Giap had effectively decided matters on the battlefield, and President Eisenhower himself had conceded that Ho would have won any possible all-Vietnamese election. The distortions of the Cold War led the United States to take over where French colonialism had left off, to assist in partitioning the country, and to undertake a war that had already been lost. Whatever the monstrosities of Asian communism may have been, Ho Chi Minh based his declaration of Vietnamese independence on a direct emulation of the words of Thomas Jefferson and was able to attract many non-Marxist nationalists to his camp. He had, moreover, been an ally of the West in the war against Japan. Nothing under this heading can be said of the Iraqi Baathists or jihadists, who are descended from those who angrily took the other side in the war against the Axis, and who opposed elections on principle. If today's Iraqi "insurgents" have any analogue at all in Southeast Asia it would be the Khmer Rouge. Vietnam as a state had not invaded any neighbor (even if it did infringe the neutrality of Cambodia) and did not do so until after the withdrawal of the United States when, with at least some claim to self-defense, it overthrew the Khmer Rouge regime. Contrast this, even briefly, to the record of Saddam Hussein in relation to Iran and Kuwait.

Vietnam had not languished under international sanctions for its brazen contempt for international law, nor for its building or acquisition, let alone its use of, weapons of mass destruction.

Vietnam had never attempted, in whole or in part, to commit genocide, as was the case with the documented "Anfal" campaign waged by Saddam Hussein against the Kurds. In Vietnam the deep-rooted Communist Party was against the partition of the country and against the American intervention. It called for a boycott of any election that was not an all-Vietnam affair. In Iraq, the deep-rooted Communist Party is in favor of the regime change and has been an enthusiastic participant in the elections as well as an opponent of any attempt to divide the country on ethnic or confessional lines. (Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who is not even an Iraqi, hates the Kurds and considers the religion of most Iraqis to be a detestable heresy: not a mistake that even the most inexperienced Viet Cong commander would have been likely to make.)

No car bomb or hijacking or suicide-bombing or comparable atrocity was ever committed by the Vietnamese, on American or any other foreign soil. Nor has any wanted international gangster or murderer ever been sheltered in Vietnam.

American generals and policymakers could never agree as to whether the guerrillas in Vietnam were self-supporting or were sustained from the outside (namely the northern half of their own country). However one may now view that debate, it was certainly true that Hanoi, and the southern rebels, were regularly resupplied not by minor regional potentates but by serious superpowers such as the Warsaw Pact and China, and were able to challenge American forces in battlefield order. The Iraqi "insurgents" are based among a minority of a minority, and are localized geographically, and have no steady source of external supply. Here the better comparison would be with the dogmatic Communists in Malaya in the 1940s, organized principally among the Chinese minority and eventually defeated even by an exhausted postwar British empire. But even the die-hard Malayan Stalinists had a concept of "people's war" and a brave record in fighting Japanese imperialism. The Iraqi "insurgents" are dismal riff-raff by comparison. Where it is not augmented by depraved Bin Ladenist imports, the leadership and structure of the Iraqi "insurgency" is formed from the elements of an already fallen regime, extensively discredited and detested in its own country and universally condemned. This could not be said of Ho Chin Minh or of the leaders and cadres of the National Liberation Front.

The option of accepting a unified and Communist Vietnam, which would have evolved toward some form of market liberalism even faster than China has since done, always existed. It was not until President Kennedy decided to make a stand there, in revenge for the reverses he had suffered in Cuba and Berlin, that quagmire became inevitable.

The option of leaving Iraq to whatever successor regime might arise or be imposed does not look half so appetizing. One cannot quite see a round-table negotiation in Paris with Bin Laden or Zarqawi or Moqtada Sadr, nor a gradually negotiated hand-over to such people after a decent interval.

In Vietnam, the most appalling excesses were committed by U.S. forces. Not all of these can be blamed on the conduct of bored, resentful, frightened conscripts. The worst atrocities—free-fire zones, carpet-bombing, forced relocation, and chemical defoliation—were committed as a direct consequence of orders from above. In Iraq, the crimes of mass killing, aerial bombardment, ethnic deportation, and scorched earth had already been committed by the ruling Baath Party, everywhere from northern Kurdistan to the drained and burned-out wetlands of the southern marshes. Coalition forces in Iraq have done what they can to repair some of this state-sponsored vandalism.

In Vietnam, the United States relied too much on a pre-existing military caste that often changed the local administration by means of a few tanks around the presidential palace. In the instance of Iraq, the provisional government was criticized, perhaps more than for any other decision, for disbanding the armed forces of the ancien regime, and for declining to use a proxy army as the United States had previously done in Indonesia, Chile, El Salvador, and Greece. Unlike the South Vietnamese, the Iraqi forces are being recruited from scratch.

In Vietnam, the policy of the United States was—especially during the Kennedy years—a sectarian one that favored the Roman Catholic minority. In Iraq, it is obvious even to the coldest eye that the administration is if anything too anxious to compose religious differences without any reference to confessional bias.

I suppose it's obvious that I was not a supporter of the Vietnam War. Indeed, the principles of the antiwar movement of that epoch still mean a good deal to me. That's why I retch every time I hear these principles recycled, by narrow minds or in a shallow manner, in order to pass off third-rate excuses for Baathism or jihadism. But one must also be capable of being offended objectively. The Vietnam/Iraq babble is, from any point of view, a busted flush. It's no good. It's a stiff. It's passed on. It has ceased to be. It's joined the choir invisible. It's turned up its toes. It's gone. It's an ex-analogy.

24 UPDATE

Last night was a frickin good ending. It was a nailbiter right at the end.

Of course, Jack and CTU stop the nuclear missile.
Of course, Marwan dies.
Of course, Tony lives, and he and Michelle get back together.
And of course, Chloe and Edgar are still bickering.

Meanwhile, a CTU agent is picked up by the Chinese and squeezed for info. The agent spills his guts about Jack. They never say what happens to him...... Let's hope the canary got eaten.

However, Jack was betrayed over to the Chinese for his role in the embassy raid that nabbed a suspect and led the way to Marwan. President Logan, though officially against killing Jack, gave his shady security advisor a green light to send an agent to kill Bauer. President Palmer of course calls Jack and alerts him, thanks to the keen ear of Mike Novick who heard the murder plot. Palmer burns his bridges with Logan, who is now a hero. Palmer may run again......

Back at CTU, Jack is tracked by the Secret Service killer and Tony. Shots are fired and Jack is apparently hit. An upset Tony orders everyone out minus he and Michelle and Chloe. Jack was hit, BUT it was made to look like death. Bauer is snuck out of CTU and he walks off into the sunset, as a drifter. No doubt, Jack will be back......

Season 5 should be interesting.

So They Wanna Politicize STAR WARS, Here's out response!!!!!

Courtesy of Glenn Beck, this is STAR WARS from a Conservative Slant.....

http://www.glennbeck.com/news/10072004.shtml

OK, AND LIBERALS SAY WE'RE UGLY?

Here's a great myth to debunk, NOW.

Liberals are cute, and conservatives are ugly, so says some of the DUMBEST liberal bloggers and celebs on earth. Beauty does not make you smart, J-Lo. The botox and nip-tucks have got to be hitting their brain cells, HARD.

OK if conservatives are sooooo ugly, explain the following......

Janeane Garofalo- once an actress, now an agitator. Janeane traded her clumsy once so-so manner for ugly, mean, loud, and scary behavior. Janeane has a loud mouth, fat chicken arms, and tatoos that would impress Tommy Lee. To top it off, Janeane is rude, hates everyone who is against her, and cuts off everyone in mid-sentence. Yep, she even pissed off Allen Colmes once.

Helen Thomas- Can we say Sith Overlord? She's got the face that could double for a bulldog and eyes that make Darth Maul look angelic. And if the face doesn't scare you, try her voice and articles.

Maureen Dowd- DRAGON LADY DEMOCRAT. She says she ripped Clinton. Don't you believe it. She hates Bush, Christians, and despises any moderate Democrats. This technicolored hair queen, thanks to Zell Miller for that gem, is really a devil. Her horns may poke through that dye job some day, but no one seems to care. Yeah she's hot, and so are the pits of hell!

Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer, both have turkey necks. ANd they once called Barbara Bush and Laura Bush frumpy and unattractive. Yeah, lets take the word of The Gollum and The Troll. (The preciousssss, hehehe).

Looks aren't everything, of course. There are some cute liberals, but their views kill off any likening or even fondness.

Ashley Judd- once upon a time, loved her. Since she marched for the right to kill the unborn and spoke vitriole against Bush and the majority of the US, she has dropped in stock value.

J-Lo- why did I put her. Mrs. Insures her Ass with Lloyds of London, is an overrated actress and singer. Why she hooked up with Ben Affleck, we'll never know.

Gwyneth Paltrow- naming your kid a fruit is creepy enough, but saying that America is a frightening place and comparing it to Nazi Germany is enough to make me quit watching her stuff. Also, Gwyneth is now sporting an English accent. Awww, is she ashamed of her homeland? You bet your arse.

Even cuteness is not enough to mask the venom that makes me upset. Liberals may claim cuteness or great ideas, but some of their ideas are ugly enough to destroy the Louvre. These Dorian Gray types are seen for what they are, embodiments of nastiness, while they think they are nice and cute and all that.

Be careful out there. Don't fall for a face, find out what's behind it before you commit. Otherwise, you may endure hell.

DON"T FORGET WHAT THEY DID

OK, I may have to remind some of you trolls, but also myself and other LOYAL AMERICANS, why we are fighting this war.

Here's some carnage in Fallujah. The corpses and parts used to be American civilian contractors. Some burned alive........

Why Bangor Maine?

OK, for those of you who think and hope Maine is a quiet place to go to. Think again. Maine is where a number of flights have had to be deverted and land due to suspected terrorists and non-fly violators. If I was Maine, I'd want a bomb proof airport or underground area to keep the plane in, if that diverted plane has a nuke or dirty weapon.

Sheesh.....

Judicial Fillibuster Eminent, thanks to Democrats

Well, the Democrats are getting what they asked for. A fillibuster. A long drawn out and uncompromising session where the Senators have to talk and talk and talk until someone backs down or someone gets out of office. And thanks to the idiots on the left, the nuclear option is now in affect. Read this link, and it explains the "nuclear option", fillibuster, and all manner of info.....

Arrogant Press defends Newsweek

Here's the link: http://drudgereport.com/flash3mi1.htm

Here's their BS and handling of White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan:

REVENGE OF THE SITH PRESS: REPORTERS RIP BUSH SPOKESMAN OVER NEWSWEEK MESS Mainline reporters moved into battle mode today during a White House press briefing -- as one of their own outlets continued to hemorrhage over a now retracted story!Afghanistan's government said Tuesday that NEWSWEEK should be held responsible for damages caused by deadly anti-American demonstrations after the magazine alleged U.S. desecration of the Quran. The White House said the United States' image abroad had suffered irreparable damage by the story. But it was the press's turn to fight back as Bush spokesman Scott McClellan opened his briefing to questions.

[Joined in progess]
Q With respect, who made you the editor of Newsweek? Do you think it's appropriate for you, at that podium, speaking with the authority of the President of the United States, to tell an American magazine what they should print?
MR. McCLELLAN: I'm not telling them. I'm saying that we would encourage them to help --
Q You're pressuring them.
MR. McCLELLAN: No, I'm saying that we would encourage them --
Q It's not pressure?
MR. McCLELLAN: Look, this report caused serious damage to the image of the United States abroad. And Newsweek has said that they got it wrong. I think Newsweek recognizes the responsibility they have. We appreciate the step that they took by retracting the story. Now we would encourage them to move forward and do all that they can to help repair the damage that has been done by this report. And that's all I'm saying. But, no, you're absolutely right, it's not my position to get into telling people what they can and cannot report....
Q Are you asking them to write a story about how great the American military is; is that what you're saying here?
MR. McCLELLAN: Elisabeth, let me finish my sentence. Our military --
Q You've already said what you're -- I know what -- how it ends.
MR. McCLELLAN: No, I'm coming to your question, and you're not letting me have a chance to respond. But our military goes out of their way to handle the Koran with care and respect. There are policies and practices that are in place. This report was wrong. Newsweek, itself, stated that it was wrong. And so now I think it's incumbent and -- incumbent upon Newsweek to do their part to help repair the damage. And they can do that through ways that they see best, but one way that would be good would be to point out what the policies and practices are in that part of the world, because it's in that region where this report has been exploited and used to cause lasting damage to the image of the United States of America. It has had serious consequences. And so that's all I'm saying, is that we would encourage them to take steps to help repair the damage. And I think that they recognize the importance of doing that. That's all I'm saying.
Q As far as the Newsweek article is concerned, first, how and where the story came from? And do you think somebody can investigate if it really happened at the base, and who told Newsweek? Because somebody wrote a story.
MR. McCLELLAN: I think Newsweek has talked about it. They took it -- Developing...

Oil For Food Profiteers Exposed and Deny All Wrongs

George Galloway, a radical liberal British MP is denying any wrong doing with the Oil for Food Program. Galloway, like many Russians and other foreign politicians and other nationals were implicated in the UN Oil for Food Scandal. Georgie must have forgot that Saddam was a tyrant and been stupid enough to think the food would get to Iraq. And the Far Left Eurotrash say we're stupid and gullible?

Wow.

Cannes Festivale De American-Trashing

Just when we thought the Newsweek saga was winding down, now this. The Euro trash are now taking American bashing beyond Bush. They seem to think we're imperialists (didn't they use us as colonies and enslave most of the world in the 1800s?) We're racist (they perfect slave trades from Africa to the colonies, and are the Final Solution creators). We're stupid. (spoonfed by the BBC). And we are a nation of trash. (aren't those hash bars and sex joints just down the block from the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, wow they have the balls to lecture us). I am sick of Europe right now. 24 UPDATE

DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU MISSED 24, IT'S A DAMN CLIFF HANGER!!!!!!!!!

OK, Jack and Curtis have Marwan, but other terrorists break him loose. Now, a cell phone call has Richard Heller, talking or making a call to Marwan's people. JAck is called in to interrogate Richard, but instead Secretary Heller does it. They find out Richard is gay, real shock, but also another terrorist who knows where Marwan is.

Meanwhile, in DC, President Logan and President Palmer are planning to evacuate The Cabinet, Legislature, and Military Command if the missile hits DC. At this time the Speaker of the House is sensing Logan's incompetence and Logan brushes off Palmer to make himself look more confident. They hope Bauer and CTU can find the missile or detonate it before its nuclear warhead is armed and takes out a major US city.

Back in LA, Tony and Michelle get back together. Tony is called with Jack, to find the guy and girl terrorists. Sure enough Jack and Cao find the male dead. Tony and Castle stumble upon the female. She is known as Mandy, and she's been a terrorist in Seasons 1 and 2, a US mercenary and very lethal. She kills Castle and takes Tony. Tony is now a hostage.

Also, Jack and Audrey split up. The warhead is still on the loose and Tony is a hostage. The President and former President will be at odds on how to handle this crisis.

Moqtada Al Sadr, is back

The radical terrorist cleric and head cutter, Moqtada Al Sadr is back, and he's threatening the Coalition. "Leave Iraq or else...." Translated: Leave or I'll scream and send useless suicide bombers at you! Our response: (positioning missiles at his fat face) "Bring on, Diaper Head!"

Simpsons has gone liberal

Yeah, sadly one of my once favorite shows has gone liberal. Here's how we tell:

-This year they had an episode where Patty comes out of the closet and is a lesbian. Everyone in Springfield is eccstatic but Reverend and Mrs. Lovejoy and Ned Flanders. However, in the end they too become PC liberals.

-On a recent episode, the following occurred.......Homer, on bart getting expelled: "and if you get expelled from that school, then you're going to military school, where you'll be sent to the next war quagmire. What will it be next, North Korea, Iran, Who knows? Anything's possible with mr. cuckoobananas in charge!"

-Back in 2003, the Simpsons are doing the Pledge of Allegiance and one character, Milhouse or someone, refused to pledge. "Ah, I don't wanna pledge to this flag! I prefer pledging to a country where war is not an excuse for a leader's failures and the troops believe in what they're doing. I pledge to Canada."

-And another episode: A dark and stormy night at Springfield Republican HQ.A group of shadowy men is sitting around a shadowy table.Burns: What act of unmitigated evil should the Republican party undertake this week?Ralph Nader, sitting at the table, raises and starts waving his hand and goes "Ooooh! Ooooh! Oooooh!"Burns: "You've already done enough, Nader."

I stopped watching their crap after 3 years ago and now, I know them not. I like the old stuff, but since they changed writers, The Simpsons is baaaaad.

FIRE AND BRIMSTONE FODDER

OK, Tolerant Liberals, if this is your type of tolerance and enlightenment, then this will make many of THE MAJORITY love their "Middle Ages" thinking. Yeah, this site gets your blood boiling, but remember what happens to blasphemers and deniers:

Herod Agrippa- Blasphemed God, struck dead, eaten alive by worms.
Judas Iscariot- Betrayed Christ, hanged himself, rotted and fell down.
Jezabel- Fell dead, eaten by dogs.

And so on and so on.....

Hate to be these guys when the "random" sulphur and fire storm NAILS THEM.

Dancing Ghouls

OK, normally I could care less that a bunch of leftie fruit bats would dance infront of an area, but I care now.

Here's their site: http://sandiego.indymedia.org/en/2005/05/108771.shtml

They call themselves the Ground Zero Players. That is ghoulish. It's a complete slap in the face to the victims of terrorism who died. It's an insult to our dead troops. And hell, they might as well do a road show and go defecate at Arlington National Cemetary also.

I take it back, they're not harmless Dope Smokers. They are a bunch of traitors. Yeah, blocking recruiting stations makes it more likely for some one else to get deployed, maybe one of your family. Did they think about that? God Almighty, these morons don't know when to stop.

YOU'RE WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY. Not us. YOU!

Priceless

Price of a SMART Bomb: $500,000
Price of F-15 Eagle Fighter-Bomber: $10,000,000
Salary of US Air Force Pilot Who Drops SMART BOMB: $35,000 a year.

Price of seeing our troops grin and give high-fives at a shithole full of terrorists and head-cutters get blown sky high along with their limbs and heads, PRICELESS.

For most occassions there is cash. For others, there is Mastercard.

Price of a US Flag: WalMart, $35.00
Price of Zippo and Lighter Fluid to burn it with: $30.00 at Smoke N Toke.
Price of Parking So You can Walk to The US Capitol and Burn Flag at a protest rally. $8 an hour.

Price of seeing some liberal asshole set himself affire and miss the flag, cause he improperly put lighter fluid in his zippo and got it all over his Hippie Clothes, priceless.

For most occassions, there is cash. For others, there is Master Card.

WHAT IF Headlines and HOW IT REALLY IS

What if the liberals had no restraints and put whatever they wanted to? (as if they have restraint, right?)

Base Closing? I thought that was Clinton's Bag?

WOW, as if the leftwing couldn't get more stupid than ever! Take a look at this moonbat!

LINK: http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/5/12/150704.shtml

Apparently, Chaplain Captain Morton claims that the Air Force Academy too antagonistic toward other religions. And is in fact, Oh God forbid, spreading the name of God. Oh No, the world we end, Ah! Pushaw. Give me a break.

How did this person become a chaplain in the first place? To be an ordained minister of any sort, you have to profess your faith. You have to be stronger in it, than others. You cannot just tuck tail and run. As I recall Matthew and Luke saying, They that acknowledge me before me, I shall acknowledge to The Father. However, they that deny me to me, so shall I deny them before The Lord.

Well, Chaplain, you deny God in order to be more PC. God wasn't PC lady. He says be gentle and not to destroy others, BUT he says not to be timid or scared to be honest of what Christ has done.

At any rate, this chaplain is a hero with the New York Times. Since being fired by the Air Force, she is now being lauded by the moonbat liberal press. However, what is her rating with God? What will ring true of her in Heaven?

SAILOR GETS DEMOTED, WHEN HE REFUSES TO GO TO SEA

Sailor, Specialist, was demoted due to refusing duty to deploy to the Persian Gulf. This seaman is an anti-war activist and said the war was ammoral. Ammoral or not his refusal of duty is a slap in the face to all who served before him. Like it or not, there's a job to do. You do or some poor bastard gets deployed into harm's way in your place. He's down to the lowest rank now. GOOD.

Was World War II Really Won?

Patrick Buchanan, known conservative and co-host on MSNBC, had the following to say about the 60th Anniversary of WWII:

Was World War II worth it?

Posted: May 11, 20051:00 a.m. Eastern
By Patrick J. Buchanan

© 2000 WorldNetDaily.com-->© 2005 Creators Syndicate Inc.

In the Bush vs. Putin debate on World War II, Putin had far the more difficult assignment. Defending Russia's record in the "Great Patriotic War," the Russian president declared, "Our people not only defended their homeland, they liberated 11 European countries."
Those countries are, presumably: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Finland.

To ascertain whether Moscow truly liberated those lands, we might survey the sons and daughters of the generation that survived liberation by a Red Army that pillaged, raped and murdered its way westward across Europe. As at Katyn Forest, that army eradicated the real heroes who fought to retain the national and Christian character of their countries.

To Bush, these nations were not liberated. "As we mark a victory of six decades ago, we are mindful of a paradox," he said:

For much of Eastern and Central Europe, victory brought the iron rule of another empire. V-E day marked the end of fascism, but it did not end the oppression. The agreement in Yalta followed in the unjust tradition of Munich and the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Once again, when powerful governments negotiated, the freedom of small nations was somehow expendable. ...

The captivity of millions in Central and Eastern Europe will be remembered as one of the greatest wrongs in history.

Bush told the awful truth about what really triumphed in World War II east of the Elbe. And it was not freedom. It was Stalin, the most odious tyrant of the century. Where Hitler killed his millions, Stalin, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Pol Pot and Castro murdered their tens of millions.
Leninism was the Black Death of the 20th Century.

The truths bravely declared by Bush at Riga, Latvia, raise questions that too long remained hidden, buried or ignored.

If Yalta was a betrayal of small nations as immoral as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, why do we venerate Churchill and FDR? At Yalta, this pair secretly ceded those small nations to Stalin, co-signing a cynical "Declaration on Liberated Europe" that was a monstrous lie.
As FDR and Churchill consigned these peoples to a Stalinist hell run by a monster they alternately and affectionately called "Uncle Joe" and "Old Bear," why are they not in the history books alongside Neville Chamberlain, who sold out the Czechs at Munich by handing the Sudetenland over to Germany? At least the Sudeten Germans wanted to be with Germany. No Christian peoples of Europe ever embraced their Soviet captors or Stalinist quislings.
Other questions arise. If Britain endured six years of war and hundreds of thousands of dead in a war she declared to defend Polish freedom, and Polish freedom was lost to communism, how can we say Britain won the war?

If the West went to war to stop Hitler from dominating Eastern and Central Europe, and Eastern and Central Europe ended up under a tyranny even more odious, as Bush implies, did Western Civilization win the war?

In 1938, Churchill wanted Britain to fight for Czechoslovakia. Chamberlain refused. In 1939, Churchill wanted Britain to fight for Poland. Chamberlain agreed. At the end of the war Churchill wanted and got, Czechoslovakia and Poland were in Stalin's empire.
How, then, can men proclaim Churchill "Man of the Century"?

True, U.S. and British troops liberated France, Holland and Belgium from Nazi occupation. But before Britain declared war on Germany, France, Holland and Belgium did not need to be liberated. They were free. They were only invaded and occupied after Britain and France declared war on Germany – on behalf of Poland.

When one considers the losses suffered by Britain and France – hundreds of thousands dead, destitution, bankruptcy, the end of the empires – was World War II worth it, considering that Poland and all the other nations east of the Elbe were lost anyway?
If the objective of the West was the destruction of Nazi Germany, it was a "smashing" success. But why destroy Hitler? If to liberate Germans, it was not worth it. After all, the Germans voted Hitler in.

If it was to keep Hitler out of Western Europe, why declare war on him and draw him into Western Europe? If it was to keep Hitler out of Central and Eastern Europe, then, inevitably, Stalin would inherit Central and Eastern Europe.
Was that worth fighting a world war – with 50 million dead?

The war Britain and France declared to defend Polish freedom ended up making Poland and all of Eastern and Central Europe safe for Stalinism. And at the festivities in Moscow, Americans and Russians were front and center, smiling – not British and French. Understandably.

Yes, Bush has opened up quite a can of worms.

OK, was World War II Worth it? Absolutely. Could we have faught it better to ensure freedom for all of the victims of WWII and the Nazi Aggression? Of course.

Pat Buchanan offers an interesting premise. Nowhere does he endorse the Nazis or letting them continue to slaughter the Russians. However, he does condemn the Soviets for their wave of mass murder after the "liberation" of Eastern Europe.

The column refers to everyone's mistakes and makes an interesting point. Could we have done more? Could FDR have shown more backbown to the Soviets? Could Churchill have done more. We say yes, now. At the time of war, who knows.

All I know is that Poland, became what Mel Brooks called in TO BE OR NOT TO BE, The Door Mat of Europe. Poland does not bare too much ill-will, while ironically, many former allies of us do. Hmmmm. Could we not have landed in Poland or Yugoslavia first, rather than France? Not at all, said Stalin. Stalin wanted the Balkans and Eastern Europe to rebuild an empire to rival the long dead czars' empire.

There are a few things that are unsettling. Pat acts like Churchill and FDR should have been infallible. No man in infallible. God was it.

Second, where was there any reference to the Holocaust. Sure, there was still some anti-Semitism in Poland and elsewhere after the war, even days after, BUT the Nazis were WORSE than anyone in mass exterminations. Pat, you missed the ball on that one and it will cost you. The Nazis had to go, and yes even the Red Army the vets of Stalingrad and Kursk were horrified at Auchwitz and Madjanek, like we and the Brits were horrified with Dachau, and Bergen-Belsen. In the end, WWII freed these surviving Jews. Going to have to break ranks with ya Pat.

Third, the USSR did not work alone in suppressing Poland and others. If you read Norman Davis book 44 Rising: The Warsaw Revolt you will see it was missteps and mismanagement on our part, but also the wrath and craftiness by Stalin and the Lublin Communists. Stalin had his armies wait at the Vistula and let the Polish Free Resistance be shredded by the SS and there was no excuse for that. However, give FDR and Churchill credit for sending Allied Air drops to supply these fighters. Yes, some Russians wanted to help, but the commissar had loaded pistols that said otherwise.

Pat offers some interesting perspective, however in hindsight, offers no perspective on then, as opposed to what we think now.

Sadly Europe traded fear of one tyrant for fear of another.

God Works In Wondrous Ways?

Read this, I wondered about the title. After reading it, dead on, kids.

HERE IT IS:

God Works in Wondrous Ways
Barry FarberWednesday, May 11, 2005 Her name is Betsy and she's a tall, blue-eyed, blonde blizzard of a woman and one of her most endearing qualities is her theology.Betsy does things like burst unexpectedly into the office of a friend, with her lovely head cocked back, virtually screaming, "God works in wondrous ways!" And what brings that interesting but unexpected sermon on? Well, the last time she chose my particular office, it was because she had just missed a New York subway train by less than two seconds and, turning around in disappointment, she ran into a treasured friend getting off the train she hadn't seen in eighteen years. Her praise and thanks to God were triggered by her awareness that, if she'd made the train, she'd have missed reconnecting with her friend.
You and I might dismiss such a treat as a "nice coincidence" or "Hey, missing a train is a small price to pay for running into an old friend!" Don't pull any of that laid-back stuff on Betsy. She prefers to envision God like a television director with His headset and mouthpiece in place watching half a dozen monitors while barking instructions to his intercom-connected teammates, such as:
"Okay, bring the train into the station now. Bring it in. Open the doors. Leave 'em open. Five more seconds. Good. Now let the blonde hurrying through the turnstiles dash down the platform. Let her dash. Let her dash a liiiiitle bit more. NOW, shut the doors. Quick. Shut the doors. Don't let her get into the train. Shut the door in her face. Good. Just right. Now let her turn around forty-eight degrees. Great. Just right. Now make sure SHE sees HIM! Good work, team. Now protect your eardrums against another outburst about Me and My ‘wondrous ways.'"
While I personally never viewed God as some sort of cosmic bellboy there to hear and heed my requests and aspirations, who among us, from the peasant to the pope, can prove Betsy's view incorrect? What if Betsy's right? Does your personal religion permit you to stretch that far? Mine does. So, what if Betsy's right?
How big a coincidence can you dismiss as just a "coincidence" without dipping into the spiritual soup kettle of Godly intervention? Let me hand you a big one. Can you dismiss it?
Donald Herbert is a fireman from Buffalo, N.Y., who got trapped under rubble trying to rescue victims of a fire and became a non-communicating "vegetable" for ten years. (Sound familiar?) All of a sudden he piped up and said, "I want to talk to my wife." And hero Don Herbert said that exactly one month after the starvation-dehydration death of Terri Schiavo. The "week" is a human invention; the "month" is "natural," meaning God-given.
We can only imagine the unbridled joy of Don Herbert's family filling him in, documentary-style, on everything he'd missed since he went into the "persistent vegetative state" ten years ago.
Dr. Joseph Fins, chief of the medical ethics division at New York-Presbyterian-Weill Cornell hospital, was quoted in the fabled New York Times as saying: "This is a phenomenon that is being frequently reported. It may be just the tip of the iceberg and the question is, how deep is it, what is the extent, and what are the predictors of this kind of reclaiming of consciousness?"
Come again, Dr. Fins? You say this sudden regaining of brain function after years and years is a phenomenon that is being FREQUENTLY REPORTED? Where were you when your professional colleagues were table-poundingly agreeing that Terri Schiavo had no chance at all of any kind of meaningful recovery and was better off dead?
Maybe you think I'm spinning and stretching to make the condition of Donald Herbert appear more similar to that of the late Terri Schiavo? Listen again to the fabled New York Times: "Before his awakening Mr. Herbert was blind and virtually silent. Family members said he had not recognized them for years. Details of his recovery are murky but neurologists said yesterday that his symptoms suggested that he had suffered damage to multiple areas of his brain because of a lack of oxygen for several minutes at the time of the accident."
Now let's listen to Dr. Alan Carver, an assistant professor of neurology at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine: "He has classic signs of hypoxic damage. It's not hard to understand what happened to his brain in 1995. What is remarkable is to think that after ten years of being like this, the brain should show evidence of regeneration, because when cells don't get oxygen for a prolonged period of time, they die."
Dr. Fins again: "There appears to be a window of time to move into this minimally conscious state, and from that there is a chance of recovering at a distant time."
Does anybody out there recall major celebrities of neurology speaking out and pinpointing Terri's chances of "recovering at a distant time"? My oxygen-satisfied but often distracted brain does not.
At the tail end of the New York Times coverage of Don Herbert's stupendous recovery I slipped and got my hopes up a little too high. The words on the page were "The case with perhaps the most parallels to Mr. Herbert may be that of …" I'd have bet Super Bowl-type money that the next words would be "Terri Schiavo."
And I'd have lost!
The most parallels, according to the fabled New York Times, may be that of Terry Wallis, a mechanic in Arkansas who slipped into a coma and then minimal consciousness at the age of 19 after a car accident. "He was largely unresponsive, but could track objects with his eyes and even respond to some commands periodically. His family was told that he was unlikely ever to recover. But in 2003, after more than eighteen years of virtual silence, he suddenly perked up and began speaking."
A quote from Dr. Fins ends the New York Times coverage: "There are cases that we're only finding out about sporadically. It really calls for an epidemiological study that can find out how many other patients like this are out there lingering in nursing homes."
And, as Bugs Bunny used to say, "That's all, folks!"
The fabled New York Times chillingly (to me, not to them), exactly one month after the starvation-dehydration of Terri Schiavo, brought forth expert professional opinion from doctors attesting to the "not as rare as we thought" recovery of those who had been labeled "persistent vegetables."
AND NOT A ONE OF THEM LINKED A CONNECTING COMMENT TO THE CASE OF TERRI SCHIAVO!
Why do those heavily educated journalists and neurologists need Mrs. Farber's little boy to point out the connection between Don Herbert and Terri Schiavo? Apparently to the New York Times and others, Terri Schiavo has become an "un-person" – the same way Soviet Minister of the Interior Lavrenti Beria and even Stalin were after they were purged by Khrushchev.
And Betsy, the next time you come barging in disturbing the peace of our office raving about God's wondrous ways, no one will shut you off or even shush you down.
I might even stand up myself, call for attention, and extol the coincidence that's a bit too coincidental to dismiss as merely a coincidence: namely, the coincidence of Buffalo fireman Don Herbert snapping out of his persistent vegetative state precisely one month after the passing of Terri Schiavo. There are over 200 countries in the world where that could have happened. It happened to happen in the same country as Terri Schiavo's misfortune! And in the same language.
Do the math. One exact calendar month. And in the same country as Terri Schiavo. And in the same language.
You used to have to sign for telegrams to assure the sender you got the message. I didn't NEED this particular message. I strongly believed we did wrong by Terri Schiavo from the get-go. Did you get the message? Did America and the world get the message? Those votes are hard to count.
Yes, Betsy. You win. God DOES work in "wondrous ways."

Scenes From the Class Struggle

The other day, Slate's Timothy Noah pondered the question of why "working class" voters don't favor the Democrats. Noah opens with a quote from Thomas Frank's 2004 book, "What's the Matter With Kansas?," then comments (emphasis his):
The working class's refusal to synchronize its politics with its economic interests is one of the enduring puzzles of the present age. Between 1989 and 1997, middle-income families (defined in this instance as the middle 20 percent) saw their share of the nation's wealth fall from 4.8 percent to 4.4 percent. Yet Al Gore lost the white working class by a margin of 17 percentage points, and John Kerry lost it by a margin of 23 percentage points. As the GOP drifts further to the right, and becomes more starkly the party of the wealthy, it is gaining support among the working class.
I have never seen a wholly satisfactory explanation for this trend, which now spans two generations. It's the decline of unions, says Thomas Frank. It's values, says Tom Edsall. It's testosterone, says Arlie Russell Hochschild. Each of these explanations seems plausible up to a point, but even when taken together, their magnitude doesn't seem big enough. Republicans, of course, will argue that it's simply the working man's understanding that the GOP has the better argument, i.e., that the best way to help the working class is to shower the rich with tax breaks. But the Bush administration has been showering the rich with tax breaks for more than four years, and the working class has nothing to show for it.
Let's consider another possibility, then: The working class, or at least a large segment of same, suffers from a psychological disorder.
Noah then considers the hypothesis of a silly 2003 study (which we mocked at the time) claiming that "conservatives"--defined to include Hitler, Mussolini and Reagan--are nuts. Even Noah ends up rejecting this claim, making the whole column a typically pointless digression.
What we wonder is: How come it never occurs to liberals or Democrats that the very terms in which they phrase the question are part of their problem? These, after all, are people who are obsessed with politically correct terminology, from "African-American" to "fetus." Yet somehow it never dawns on them that "working class" is an insult.
Think about it: Would you call a janitor, a secretary or a carpenter "working class" to his face? The term connotes putting someone in his place: Your lot in life is to work. Thinking is for the higher classes. The questions the Democrats ask about the "working class" reflect precisely this contempt: What's the matter with these people? Why don't they understand that we know what's good for them? Why do they worry about silly things like abortion and homosexuality? If they must believe in all that religious mumbo-jumbo, can't they keep it to themselves?
Every time the Democrats lose an election, they make a big show of asking questions like these. Then, the next time they lose an election, they once again wonder why the "working class" has forsaken them. Maybe it's as simple as: because they were listening.
Zapatero Rejects 'Global Test'"If it comes to choosing between pleasing President Bush or the Spanish public, Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said Wednesday that he--unlike the conservative opposition Popular Party--would opt for the latter," reports the Associated Press:
"Between pleasing Bush and doing what Spanish people want, I will go for what Spaniards want, and you (the Popular Party) are, naturally, within your rights to decide to please the U.S. president," Zapatero said.
Zapatero last year endorsed John Kerry*, then told Kerry to drop dead when Kerry urged him not to withdraw Spanish troops from Iraq. But in a way, his comment is reminiscent of President Bush's in the first presidential debate, when Kerry memorably said America should be subject to a "global test" before defending itself:
I'm not exactly sure what you mean, "passes the global test," you take preemptive action if you pass a global test. My attitude is you take preemptive action in order to protect the American people, that you act in order to make this country secure.
Zapatero's comment makes one thing clear: All countries act in what they perceive to be their interests. If you're an American, aren't you glad to have a president who does that too?
* The haughty, French-looking Massachusetts Democrat, who by the way has met foreign leaders who can't go out and say this publicly, but boy they look at you and say, "You've got to win this, you've got to beat this guy, we need a new policy," things like that.
Running From OfficeOur Peggy Noonan, writing on yesterday's evacuation from the Capitol because of an aviation scare, quotes an unnamed Senate staffer: "I was wearing open-toed, two-inch heels. Is this the official end of high heels in Washington? I think it might be, yeah." The Washington Post reports that "House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was literally lifted out of her pinkish high heels by Capitol Police in a hallway outside the House chamber."
Maybe John Kerry** was on to something with those flip-flops.
** Fop cit.
Two Schools for the Price of OneYesterday's item on Tampa, Fla.'s Hillsborough High School--which got a "D" from the state but was rated the country's 10th best school by Newsweek--prompted several readers to write us with an explanation. Here's Skip Simpson:
As a former resident of Tampa and a graduate of a "blue ribbon" private school in the area I can tell you that the reason Hillsborough High is listed as the 10th best school in the country is because of their International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This IB program took many promising students from my private school after eighth grade by offering a similarly excellent education free.
In the IB program students are sheltered from the rest of the student population so that they may focus on their studies without being distracted by the dropouts and poor students that led the school to get a "D" in the first place.
It also turns out there's an explanation for why New York City's elite high schools didn't turn up in the list, given in an online Q&A with the authors:
New York, NY: Unless I missed them, I didn't see 1 NYC public school on the top 1,000 list. How could that be possible?
Barbara Kantrowitz and Jay Mathews: We are looking for schools that challenge average students as well as the most gifted and therefore we exclude schools that have strict academic admissions criteria. Some of the best and most famous high schools in New York City use a entrance exam for all students and therefore don't qualify for our list. That would include schools like Stuyvesant, Bronx Science or Hunter College High School--all of which would likely be at the top of our list if we did include them. There are other wonderful public high schools in New York; we mentioned a few of them in our story.
So it turns out these are the best 1,000 (actually 1,042) mediocre high schools in the country.
Rose à la PêchePhoenix's KFYI radio reproduces a map that apparently comes from the Arizona Republic and is headlined "Today's News Briefing." It features summaries of various news stories, with lines pointing from the boxes to the places on the map where the news happened. One of the stories is headlined "Bush Supports Georgia's Democracy." The dateline is Tblisi, but the pointer ends up somewhere near Atlanta.
Oh well, it's been almost a quarter century since Georgians voted for Jimmy Carter. We suppose it's time to let bygones be bygones and welcome them back into the community of democratic states.

The Watchers of the Watchers Watch BackOn Tuesday we noted that the Australian Broadcast Corp.'s "Media Watch" program had aired a nasty item on Janet Albrechtsen, a columnist for the Australian, concerning her favorable mention of Arthur Chrenkoff's "good news from Iraq" series on this Web site. Our item prompted a lengthy e-mail from Peter McEvoy, executive producer of "Media Watch," which in the interest in fairness we print in full:
Your column "Watching the Watchers" has been brought to our attention and I'd like to clarify and correct several points.
As I've made clear elsewhere we have no problem with Arthur's Good News blogs in themselves. There is certainly no misrepresentation of them on OpinionJournal.com. It is clear on your site that they are what they are--a cull of media reports and media releases highlighting the good news from Iraq prepared by an Australian blogger.
If you check the transcript of our program you will see that we did not state as you assert that OpinionJournal.com is not published by The Wall Street Journal.
We did attempt on many occasions to clarify the precise relationship between the WSJ and OpinionJournal.com but our phone calls and emails have still not generated an answer from Dow Jones.
My first email to Dow Jones was sent at 2.41 p.m. Friday, 6 May, 2005. Since then I have sent another two emails to your corporate communication representatives but have generated just one auto reply and no responses.
Later I contacted the WSJ where the news desk journalists told me that they couldn't make any comment. I phoned the desk and mobile phones of another 3 of your corporate representatives but none returned my calls. I eventually spoke to your corporate communications man in Hong Kong who was very helpful but couldn't answer my question and referred my query to New York.
When we still had no response I tried your Corporate Communications Vice President Amy Wolfcale again and was finally lucky enough to catch her on her cell phone. She told me she was very busy but that she would try to get me a response. I never heard from her or Dow Jones again.
Given the unresponsiveness of Dow Jones we reported the facts that were clear.
"Good News from Iraq is not published on the highly respected Wall Street Journal website--it's a blog published by a sister site."
We don't see any error for Media Watch there, but as you concede The Australian got it wrong.
Where we were wrong was in our report of Arthur Chrenkoff's relationship with OpinionJournal.com. We said that Arthur was not paid and that his blog (Arthur's own description) was published without editing.
That information came directly from Dr. Chrenkoff. I spoke at length to him before this story. Naturally I contacted him after your latest column to clarify why he had given us false information.
Arthur has apologized for misleading us and given me permission to provide this quote from our conversation:
Media Watch: Do they pay you?
Arthur Chrenkoff: They do actually--a pretty insignificant amount--I started doing it for free but they suggested they might pay me a rather a nominal amount. It's certainly not in line with what is paid for opinion pieces. . . . I do apologize, with hindsight I should have told you the truth. As I said I was a bit taken aback. I didn't see how it was relevant to the story but having said that I do apologize.
MW: What about editing. Do they edit your pieces?
AC: I told you they didn't edit it because to my mind editing means to make substantial changes, but they do have a look at it before they publish it.
The false information that Dr. Chrenkoff provided was not significant, but we apologize for those small errors. We'll put a correction on our website.
We stand by our argument that The Australian's columnist Janet Albrechtsen misrepresented the nature and source of "Good News from Iraq."
We checked with Chrenkoff, who confirms the substance of the conversation that McEvoy quotes. He has apologized to us for his lapse in judgment in giving a false answer to what he felt was an invasive question. Let this be a lesson to anyone who is ever interviewed by a reporter: You are under no obligation at all to answer any question, but if you decide to answer a question, do so truthfully.
So "Media Watch" made two honest errors in its report--one the result of bad information from a source, the other of a misunderstanding about the meaning of the term "editing." We'd be inclined to view this as entirely forgivable--except that these errors came in the course of a piece devoted to smearing Janet Albrechtsen over an honest, and very small, error.
Here, again, is what Albrechtsen wrote:
[Terrorists] must detest The Wall Street Journal. Each fortnight the paper's website (www.wsj.com) includes a round-up of good news from Iraq. It makes for refreshing reading, if only to even up the Iraq ledger.
This is entirely true, except that Albrechtsen misidentifies which Wall Street Journal Web site carries the roundup in question. This makes it a bit harder to find (clearly it flummoxed the "Media Watch" folks), but it is not substantially inaccurate. OpinionJournal.com is part of what we call the WSJ.com network, and the OpinionJournal logo (which appears atop this page, unless you're reading this in text-only e-mail format) includes a prominent WSJ.com in a blue circle.
Again, we would have been happy to explain this had McEvoy contacted us in advance. We're sorry if our corporate colleagues failed to return his calls, but an enterprising reporter might have thought to ask Chrenkoff for a referral to his contact at the Journal.
Instead, "Media Watch" jumped to the erroneous conclusion that "Good News from Iraq is not published on the highly respected Wall Street Journal website." Since the goal was to make another journalist's honest mistake look like a deliberate misrepresentation, one cannot credit "Media Watch" with acting in good faith.

As If Problems Weren't Bad Enough

North Korea is stepping up its own war rhetoric, and had recently test fired some missiles over Japan. These missiles can be fitted for nuclear payload. Does anyone else hear think that the Iraqi terrorists and others may be distracting us, for a sneak attack in Asia? I dunno, color me crazy, but its odd that Iran and Iraq are flaring up and both did business with North Korea, who is also making waves. Axis of Evil indeed.

Bush was right, admit it!
