In God We Argue

Michael Newdow, the atheist from Northern California, is like a gnat at a picnic that just won't go away.
The guy who tried and failed to get "under God" removed from the Pledge of Allegiance…is back.
Newdow is filing a federal lawsuit asking for the removal of the national motto, "In God We Trust," from U.S. coins and dollar bills. Yep. You knew it had to come sooner or later.
The guy claims "In God We Trust" is an unconstitutional endorsement of religion and "excludes people who don't believe in God."
What is with this guy?
Now, Newdow says he's not trying to push his religion, atheism that is. He says he's just trying to make sure the government is following the Constitution.
And he pooh-poohed arguments that references to God in government honor the country's religious roots.As Newdow puts it…"It's not the history that counts. It's not the patriotism. These people want to get their religious views in our government," he said. Well…first of all… "these people" are virtually everyone else. And…as for denying this country's religious roots…when the founding fathers themselves wrote God into our founding documents, this guy just doesn't get it.Mr. Newdow, maybe you want to pick up a history book and look up these words of Thomas Jefferson:"Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God?"That's right, Thomas Jefferson said that.Newdow is so off base and so wrong…even other atheists are calling talk shows saying he gives them a bad name.Look Newdow. Find something else to do. And if you're so offended by the words "In God We Trust" on your money…then get a credit card…and while you're at it…get a life.
