WOW! ranando really comes through and shows his true colors. WHats the matter, rannyboy, are your meds running out? It's fairly obvious that you haven't taken them. It's also fairly obvious that you desperately NEED them. One post, you're logical, willing to discuss things, calm, almost a human. The very next post, you're totally illogical and out in left field. One can only surmise that your "voices" in your head must be talking to you, either that, or you're totally stoned... which is it, ranny?
Not only have I witnessed your attacks on myself, I also have witnessed them on Nick and others, and that's just the ones here on THIS blog, one wonders how many others you are doing this to on other blogs, even in real life!
It is also painfully obvious from YOUR posts and your denigrating of Christians that you, sir, are NO Christian, therefore, your attacks on Nick about not being a good Christian are illogical, inane and just downright stupid, much like you, I might add!
How the HELL can a total idiot like you, a NON CHristian presume to judge ANYONE on their standing in their church, their beliefs, their language, or ANYTHING else for that matter???????????
It is between Nick, and GOD, his standing, YOU are NOT the intercessor, he does NOT have to stand before you and be judged, you have ABSOLUTELY NO right to presume to pass judgement.
IF, and this is a HUGE IF, you claim to be a Christian... THIS little statement "Your pastor is not one of these right-wing conservative religious freaks that preaches the gosple on Sunday and bangs little boys on Monday is he?"tells us that you need to pull the 4X12 out of your OWN eye before judging another!
For another "judgement" by Ranando, we have this little jewel "If you can't do that then your a pathetic version of a Christian. Stop wearing God on your sleeve and please stop hiding behind him also.

Your a fake, the same as Bush, plain and simple."

Either way, rannyboy, just your comments on this blog tell us you are full of shit, you are self absorbed, you are judgemental, and a total hypocrite. You "judge" others for doing the exact same things that YOU are doing. Either way, just go away, cockroach, your comments aren't worth the waste of MY time to read, or respond to, or I MAY just have to bill you for my time!

Wow - such anger on the board.

    My brief thoughts:

It is also painfully obvious from YOUR posts and your denigrating of Christians that you, sir, are NO Christian, therefore, your attacks on Nick about not being a good Christian are illogical, inane and just downright stupid, much like you, I might add!

I see that written often - especially on this blog. I'm writing this in a very non-sarcastic and light-toned way, but I'm not sure that the above statement is true.

Just because someone is not a Christian does not negate their ability to recognize where someone else is not acting as Jesus would have wanted us to.

I know you guys like to often point out angry moments coming from the left, while citing that it's wrong because the left supposedly promotes peace. Isn't it very similar. I mean, you don't follow ideologies of the left, and yet, you're aware of those ideologies - therefore your opinion is certainly valid when commenting on liberals attacking people at a rally (for example).

Again - I'm not trying to sound mean - it just strikes me as a valid point.

    Kevin,
How would a person who is not a Christian, a person who has wilfully rejected Christ, have any authority, or even an ability to judge one who has?
Has a Christian EVER said that they were "perfect"? Do Christians readily admit their failure and shortcomings, and their striving to be better? Yes, they do. Do their failings give free reign to those who have rejected the teachings of the ONE man who was perfect? NO!
DO you freeluly, gleefully and willfully "judge" Muslims. for their shortcomings, for their failure to live up to the standards presented them in their "Holy Book"? Do you wilfully, freely and gleefully "judge" Buddhists, or Rastafarians, or Wiccans, or any other "religion"?\ Talking about a persons Political point of view is a far different discussion than talking about a person's personal relationship with whomever their "god" happens to be.
AFter all, did Teddy Kennedy, Michael Moore, George Soros, Ranando, John Kerry, or any other leftist ever CLAIM to be God, or claim to have created the world (other than Al Gore, who claimed to have been the "Father of the Internet").
Do you people actually PRAY to any of the aforementioned? Do you even have a "personal" relationship with them?
    It's FAR different.
Regardless of that, did Ranado, and has ranando NOT based numerous attacks on what "he" views as "right wing conservative Christians", based on his perception of their views? Has he not even denigrated ALL "Christians" by his "question" about Nick's pastor "having sex" with little boys, by his statement about "right wing conservative Christians"?
The answer to ALL the above is YES!
I still, and always will state "You have no right, no standing, no basis for your "judgements"". One FREELY chooses their basis, their beliefs, if you freely choose NOT to believe, so be it, but keep your "judgements" to yourself, as you have NOT got a leg to stand on, it's LUDICROUS!

How would a person who is not a Christian, a person who has wilfully rejected Christ, have any authority, or even an ability to judge one who has?

Well judgement is easy. Firstly, it's just an opinion - a judging. Like a judge - they preside over a case and give their opinion of what should happen based upon what they have seen/heard/etc.

Secondly, it's been pointed out a few times that judging is reserved for God. But this is not true, less you believe in that God. I don't know what Ranando believes in, but in my case, while I don't think we should judge one another, if anyone is going to, it's certainly not God.

Again, just my opinion - but I think the idea is valid. (this is one of those reasons I don't like religious arguments -- because you really cant refute my opinion of the matter, nor can I yours)

Do Christians readily admit their failure and shortcomings, and their striving to be better? Yes, they do.

This is actually why I gave up Christianity when I was about 17 years old. Yes, people do admit their shortcomings, but striving to be better is an easy statement.

I could compare it to a million other things, but my only point would really be that people can talk all day long, results are what we notice.

I've had the discussion with Nick many times before and the reality for me is that I have no problem with Nick calling people Cum-Guzzling HorseFuckers. It's just that often times, he [and others] will wrap that in some sort of Christian blanket and as we've discussed before, to the non-Christians - we're like: what?!?

It doesn't make sense. I'd imagine most Americans are AWARE of the teachings of the bible - whether they choose to follow them or not. So when someone not just once, but in most all of their posts bears some sort of negative witness on Christianity, it's hard to just say "He's not perfect, and he's trying" - because I know he's not perfect (and thats ok), but I find it hard to believe he is trying.

And Nick, that's not just for you. It's my general opinion of the matter. I apologize in advance for targeting you.

Do you wilfully, freely and gleefully "judge" Buddhists, or Rastafarians, or Wiccans, or any other "religion"

Again, I don't LIKE to judge anyone, but yes, I would imagine I do.

Talking about a persons Political point of view is a far different discussion than talking about a person's personal relationship with whomever their "god" happens to be.

Why? You've never met God. I've never met ANY of our countries leaders. And yet, it's not the being that has anything to do with it - it's just the ideology.

In fact, I think thats what the US has pointed out as being so deadly for awhile now. It's not so much the muslim-extemists - it's the rapidly-spreading ideologies that they are spewing to the world. It's hard to kill an ideology.

I digress, but my point was only that especially to someone who is not religious, politics and religion are VERY similar.

Do you people actually PRAY to any of the aforementioned? Do you even have a "personal" relationship with them?
    It's FAR different.

No. And no again. And this isn't a personal attack against you, but the 'personal' relationship that people have with God, well, thats just another page. So I still believe [personally] that the relationship I have with a politician is roughly the same I would have with a religious God. Just someones thoughts being channeled through a medium into my brain.

as he not even denigrated ALL "Christians" by his "question" about Nick's pastor "having sex" with little boys, by his statement about "right wing conservative Christians"?

Yes he has. But only those who choose to care what he wrote. Nick makes comparisons like that all of the time. The fact remains that SOME claiming to be pure in their religion HAVE had sex with little boys. I'm sure not Nick's pastor - and I'm certainly not harping on the media blowing up that issue -- but sometimes Nick does make comparisons about something that SOME stupid liberal did and generalizes it to ALL of us.

I don't agree with either of them.

Your post is great and let me say

A favorite pastime of mine is Sports Betting to make a few extra bucks.
My only problems is that I was never good at picking teams or games.
Recently I found a site that is like Sports Betting but I dont lose my money if my pick is bad.

Its a sports stock market, kinda like NASDAQ. which makes a big difference because if I buy shares in a team. I keep the stock whether they win or lose, but as a bonus I get paid divdends if they win.
So I can make money with dividends and also from selling high and buying low.

I buy shares in NFL, NASCAR, NCAAB, MLB, Golf, Tennis ect....
They just released Some Great IPOS's this week!

Judgment is reserved for the one and only Lord. We should hold our friends accountable for their actions. Nobody is perfect, but we should do our best to please God. We will always fall short of that goal, and fortunately for each of us God paid the ultimate sacrifice to cleanse our sins.

Judges, in the real every day world of Lawyers and court rooms "judge" based on the LAW... by what LAW are YOU passing your judgements, Kevin?
Do you know the intricacies of said law, or are you basing your "judgements" on an incomplete, noncomprehensive study of said law, or is it just a "gut-feeling"?

  • At 7:31 PM, Blogger chefwes said…

    P.S.
Is that short enough for you?
Sorry, sometimes I can be rather long winded, when I feel it takes that, to make a point!

  • At 9:10 PM, Blogger Kevin said…

Oh no - please don't confuse what I was saying. I truly wasn't complaining about your long-windedness, and am generally that way myself. I was merely saying how it is difficult to answer all of the questions you pose. But - onto your question at hand.

by what LAW are YOU passing your judgements, Kevin?

Well I don't want to get into another word argument with you again (tho the last one was interesting and fun) - but a quick citation from dictionary.com says that to judge can be:

    1) To form an opinion or estimation of after careful consideration
    3) To determine or declare after consideration or deliberation.

(I only posted the two relevant definitions to my point)

There IS a definition for it regarding legal senses, but it is no way a requirement to judge something.

Do you know the intricacies of said law, or are you basing your "judgements" on an incomplete, noncomprehensive study of said law, or is it just a "gut-feeling"?

There is no 'said law' - and if there is, it's far too complicated to explain because it's merely the morals and 'laws' that I use to govern my own life.

I wouldn't say it's a 'gut-feeling' per se, as any judgement I would make would most likely be based upon things that I have learned, seen, felt, and experienced.

I was going to quote you what Jesus had to say about judgement/accountability (Luke 6:41-42 if you're interested), but I feel led to ask you why you don't think of "The Lord?" He thinks of you everyday, actually.

Whoa, you gave up because Christians aren't perfect and they ask others to relate when they screw up? It's not do as I say, not do as I do. It's do as God says, and don't screw up as much as I do.... Also, when and where did the standard of being godly become such an interference? When did it become impossible for you to seek God? I get the feeling you stopped seeking when everyone lived up to standard's that others placed on them, BUT they themselves will not dare step toward.

I could compare it to a million other things, but my only point would really be that people can talk all day long, results are what we notice.

Like what results? Talking and acting like a moron, or God forbid, helping your neighbors, helping Katrina victims, and maybe, just maybe working our tails off day in and day out as a good witness? You're saying my verbal screw ups have invalidated God, or maybe that's an excuse?

I've had the discussion with Nick many times before and the reality for me is that I have no problem with Nick calling people Cum-Guzzling HorseFuckers. It's just that often times, he [and others] will wrap that in some sort of Christian blanket and as we've discussed before, to the non-Christians - we're like: what?!?

If you have a problem, say, "Moron! Stop cussing like a sailor! You're a Christian act like it!" However, don't be suprised if the change encourages further Godly discussion which you may try to swat off....

Hard to believe I am trying, gee thanks, some pal.....

And Nick, that's not just for you. It's my general opinion of the matter. I apologize in advance for targeting you.

Too late, smart guy, you opened the can of words. You ask for apologies and forgiveness, fine, I may. Don't think I won't forget this. And remember the forgiveness that matters, is God's and God's alone.....

Oye. I'm not getting into this again. I've read the bible, I spent a good part of my years entirely engulfed in Christianity and the bible I might add.

Biblical passages have relevance (a) to people that believe in the bible (b) as simple lessons, no greater than from other books.

You can dispute this if you want, but it's not going to go anywhere. People that don't have faith in Christianity do NOT have faith in the bible.

And I am glad that the lord thinks of me everyday. That sounded like Mother Abigail telling Nick why it didn't matter that he was an atheist. (if you read Mr. King)

  • At 10:12 AM, Blogger Kevin said…

Whoa, you gave up because Christians aren't perfect and they ask others to relate when they screw up?

No. But rather because as a human being, we live in a world where everyone has their own opinion and feelings on the rest of the world.

Our little group of Christian brothers, like it or not, judged all of those around us for not 'being Christians'. Not that we actually KNEW if they were Christians or not, but we judged them for drinking, smoking, drugs, sex, etc, etc.

So again, it's possible they were devout christians, but rather just displayed a poor witness.

Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed and still enjoy the above listed items, and therefore have no intention upon calling myself a Christian.

I am aware that biblically speaking they are seen as 'wrong', and since I KNOW they are 'wrong' and yet have NO INTENTIONS of NOT doing them, it's just hypocrisy.

A similar point that I try to convey when over and over again you make no effort to practice what you preach.

I don't care if you don't practice it, but it's frustrating to hear you preach it 2 posts later.

So, call it what you will, but I just have no interest in being like that. I should add, theres many more reasons, but I'd say this was the catalyst.
