Oliver Stone: Bush Is Wrong Leader, In Spite of 9/11

Conspiracy Nut and Historical Revisionist Oliver Stone has made a recent 9/11 Film. It will have Nicolas Cage and be about a NY Port Authority Officer, and others trapped inside the WTC before they climbed out of the rubbed of Ground Zero. Sounds fine, right?

It may not be right. Here's why.....

Oliver was quoted as saying how Bush "misused his power after 9/11," and being "angry about our involvement in Iraq and the violence of it all."

Oliver Stone is lecturing us on violence when 11 years ago he came out with NATURAL BORN KILLERS which glorified trash TV, serial killers, and our own callousness to violence. Yeah, let's take his commentary on the evils of violence, when he had legs and heads blown off every minute in PLATOON.

Oliver Stone, went to add that he was upset on the failure of ALEXANDER at the box office. He blamed the youth and their lack of caring for history. No, Ollie, their folks and even they know you're a frickin nutcase.

Stone's next film will be revisionism at best, and a distortion and blame USA flick at the worst.

Why?

Well, JFK, Stone skewered the US Government, courts, military, and local law enforcement as being accomplices in JFK's death. He started with weird autopsy facts and ballistics reports and branched out and embelished and lied from there.

Nixon, with Anthony Hopkins (great great actor) was somewhat better, but played heavily into the Nixon The Monster theories. And of course, downplayed accomplishments in getting the US out of Vietnam, opening doors with China, and negotiating with the USSR. Let's not forget his efforts to calm the rising crime rate. Sadly, Nixon, was paranoid and ambition did him in in a Macbeth/Shakesperean manner, said Stone. Actually, Nixon was human. Durh, Ollie.

Platoon, inept and cold officers, sadistic and ruthless sergeants, and the drugged up, the cowardly, and the murderous idiots comprised out army in Nam. Thanks Ollie! The names on the Wall appreciate it, NOT!

Just another Hollywood whore. Unlike sexual whores the Hollywood type won't just take our money for entertaining us and then shut up. They seem to think we care what they think, assuming they can think.

Mark, it's interesting. Once upon a time, when I was young, I thought Oliver Stone made some cool films. Wall Street, is still a good one, as was Platoon. However, I watched Salvador, Born On The 4th of July, Nixon, JFK, Natural Born Killers, U-Turn, and others and picked up on his stuff.

    Ollie has common themes.

    1. The MAN is keeping everyone down, and must be destroyed.
    2. America is at the root of all evil.
    3. Authorities and leaders ARE NOT to be trusted.
    4. Drug use, renoucning God, and all other hedonism is fine.

And I imagine there are others.....

In short, Ollie is a paranoid, anti-American, socialist leftard.

ndwalters, I can't say I've seen much of ollie's stuff. I watched Platoon many years ago and came away totally discusted. Vietnam was ugly by anyones standards but the way the vets were treated at home was even uglier. I imagin that the libs would like to lynch Algore for inventing the Internet. What a wonderful place to exchange ideas and compare notes on how they are making fools of themselves.

heh -- well, I'm just going to take a stab at playing the Devil's advocate here -- for sake of argument I suppose.

Regarding the 4 Ollie themes Nick listed:

    1. I'm not sure we can credit Stone specifically with this cinematic trait. Namely because it encompasses probably 75% of Hollywood scripts in some way or another.

    2. Well this is tricky, but I believe the Bible does say that the love of money is the root of all evil. And given the US ranks #1 for money, and we certainly love it, I think that 4th grade transitive property could apply here. And hence, perhaps America IS the root of all evil?

    3. As per our own Constitution, authorities and leaders are NOT to be trusted. If they were to be trusted, we would not have implemented the supposedly stringent system of checks and balances. I think the point was to always be questioning and watching.

    4. This one is just entirely subjective. Drug use and hedonism are both always fine, depending on your opinion.

Just something for you to write about.

Money is not the root of all evil, rather greed and love for it above all else, Kev. We need money, fact of life. However, if that is your life's pursuit, then you end up like Charlie Sheen or Michael Douglas- broken men, in Wall Street.

Kevin, I don't think Stone has cited the US Constitution or due process of leaders much. He's more or less a "let's frag em," type guy.

Drug use and hedonism may be fine for some, but not me. Look at what wonders it did for Jim Morrison, John Belushi, Janice Joplin, and many many others.

"For what profit is a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul in the process?"- Luke 9:24, 25.

Ollie Stone did quote that verse once, and it hit on the mark.

    Good response.

Tho, I did in fact cite that the LOVE for money is the root of all evil (according to the bible anyways), not just money itself.

And I can agree on the drug use; it obviously can have terrible effects. The hedonism one however, I think remains a mystery.
