Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly's suggestion that San Francisco is fair game for terrorists because of voters' stance against military recruiters in schools was "outrageous" and "beyond the circle of civil discussion," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday.
There was no suggestion of that. Besides, the terrorists would never attack a city with so many of their biggest fans. They'll kill em later. A collaborator is the person hoping that they will be the last one to be eaten by the alligator, after feeding everyone else to it. Winston Churchill would be shocked at this champerpot of Chamberlain-esque liberals....
On his program Monday, O'Reilly defended as "satirical" his suggestion that the United States shouldn't respond to a terrorist attack on San Francisco in response to city voters' opposition to military recruiters. But the San Francisco Democrat wasn't laughing.
She never laughs, she is always serious, albeit no one except San Fransicko takes her seriously......
"It's not funny, it's not satirical -- it's outrageous," Pelosi said Wednesday after addressing the topic briefly on the Fox News program "Your World With Neil Cavuto."
Pelosi told The Chronicle that she had voted against Proposition I, the measure that prompted O'Reilly to suggest it was open season on Coit Tower for al Qaeda. The nonbinding measure suggested that military recruiters be banned from public schools, colleges and universities, and encouraged the city to fund scholarships and job training for low-income students so they wouldn't be compelled to join the military for economic reasons.
BS, Nancy, you probably voted for it, since you undermine the military every chance you get. City funds low income folks? Like the $400 that Mayor Newsome promised to pay the homeless. Too bad that money never went to food or getting a job, right, Twosome?
O'Reilly said on his radio show, "The Radio Factor," that if San Franciscans didn't support the military, the city should be cut off from federal dollars.
Pelosi said she agreed with the measure's supporters that some military recruiters promise too much. On the other hand, she said, the military remains a legitimate option for some young people.
Promise too much? I don't think so. I think anyone with half a brain knows they are not being stationed at Monterry California there first year in the military. This isn't Private Benjamin, Pelosi. This is real life. Stop taking lies from Michael Moore's Fattenhyped 9/11 movie.... Twit.
"I was not behind (Prop. I) 100 percent," Pelosi said. "But that's not the issue here.
"This is more about Fox News and what it thinks are the acceptable limits of what can be said on the air," Pelosi said. "Everybody knows what O'Reilly is about. It's more about the network, and what judgments it makes."
Fox News is evil! The Sky is falling! Ruuuuuun!
She didn't call for Fox or Westwood One, which carries O'Reilly's daily radio show in 400 markets, to discipline the commentator. "I don't have time to think about Bill O'Reilly's employment status, but this is offensive to San Francisco," she said. "The American people know what's funny and what's not. And Fox goes ahead on this at its own peril."
And that's probably because you slam Fox News all you can, and your ilk in San Fran. Could you blame Fox if they did not like you? I would not.
Representatives of Fox News and Westwood One had no comment on Pelosi's remarks, although Westwood One said O'Reilly was not facing disciplinary action. A call to O'Reilly's television producer was not returned.
"We welcome all viewpoints on our air," a Fox spokesman said in an e-mail last week.
O'Reilly was set off both by the military-recruiting measure and Proposition H, which bans handgun ownership in the city.
And the lefties will avoid Fox, because they fear no fed questions, and no friendly wink and nod types at MSNBC or CNN provides......
"You know, if I'm the president of the United States, I walk right into Union Square, I set up my little presidential podium and I say, 'Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you're not going to get another nickel in federal funds,' " O'Reilly said Nov. 8 on his radio show as San Franciscans were approving the two measures.
"Fine. You want to be your own country? Go right ahead," O'Reilly went on. "And if al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, 'Look, every other place in America is off limits to you except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead.' "
Damn right! They forgo protection, they get what they deserve.
O'Reilly's comments made national news after The Chronicle reported them last week. They inspired everything from support on blogs to rips from on-air rivals such as MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, who said Monday that O'Reilly "has always been viewed as a guy who is, you know, several light bulbs short of a marquee."
Don't be too mad at Keith, he's dead last in the ratings, while O Reilly is kicking butt in Nielsen turf. O'Reilly isn't perfect, but he did make some good points...
On Tuesday, San Francisco Supervisor Chris Daly introduced a resolution calling on Fox to fire O'Reilly for his "flagrant disregard for the safety and welfare of San Franciscans."
On the air this week, O'Reilly has alluded, with few specifics, to the "Internet smear sites" that are trying to get him fired over his comments.
"I'm glad the smear sites made a big deal out of it," O'Reilly said. "Now we can all know who was with the anti-military Internet crowd. We'll post the names of all who support the smear merchants on billoreilly.com. So check with us."
Bill, consider me on your side. The smear merchants, plenty of em post here and everywhere, as they have no real lives, except interfering with others' lives, will continue their tirades. Wear that like a badge of honor. Bring it on, you pansies.
No such list was posted Wednesday night, but the site did contain a poll question: "Should Americans who disagree with San Francisco's anti-military stance avoid traveling to the city?"
It's your choice. Avoid it, like you will France or other non friendly destinations. After all, the quislings will continue their joy trips over there. San Francisco: A State of Mind. San Fransicko: We Cater to Every Urge. San Fransicko: Sodom By The Bay. San Francisco: Watch Your A.....
