WHY THE HISTORY CHANNEL ROCKS
OK, if you cannot tell by some of my articles and rants and comparisons, I AM A HISTORY JUNKIE. I can't get enough of it.
The History Channel Rocks for so many reasons. Here's a little list of why.
1. WORLD WAR II- Everything and anything you ever wanted to know on WWII is here, almost 24-7. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall and Russia changing its government, new and unknown stuff is coming out of Russia and Germany. Their docs are good and have actual participants in it. Not that Edward Hermann sucks as a narrator, but I like the testimonies also. There are also interesting parallels on how WWII set the stage for conflicts in The Balkans, Africa, The Middle East, The Cold War, Central America. All of it is cool. Gonna have to order some of the DVDs they have at the HistoryChannel Website.
2. THE MIDDLE EAST- Since 9/11, the Middle Eastern History is coming out, as is the history of terrorism. Very in depth, impartial stuff. Shows both sides, but focuses on our response.
3. CHRISTIANITY- History of the Apostles, The Church, Catholics, Jesus. All of it fairly accurate. Puts a face on the church, and shows that this aint a myth. Jews and Romans did not document or put dates to myths.
4. MAIL CALL- R Lee Ermy rocked in Full Metal Jacket and he rocks in this. The real life ex-Marine shows us weapons, vehicles, how they came to be, how they work, and where they are now. WHAT IS YOUR MALFUNCTION?
5. FEW COMMERCIALS- Thank God!
6. STUFF ON SALE- check out www.historychannel.com and you will see what they have in the Store.
The History Channel shined very well this week. With the end of World War II celebrations, all sides had their stories and the HC told them all. They had everything from Ike and The Commanders, to Yalta, the German defenses, Holocaust end, and even Russian atrocities against freed people and German subjects. All of it happened, and all of it is portrayed well.
Keep up the good work, History Channel.
