ON THIS DAY AUGUST 7th

In 1998- the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Osama Bin Laden's Al Qaeda network and this would not be the last we heard from Osama...... His people hit the USS Cole a little over 2 years after this, and the World Trade Center a year later with the Pentagon.

1947- Thor Hyderthal's Kon Tiki raft hit a coral reef.

1945- Harry Truman announces the first use of an atomic bomb on Japan, which was detonated August 6, 1945. He gave a weather forecast of 4000 degrees with strong winds, and a large cloud bank gathering over Japan.....

1944- IBM successfully runs its first program controlled calculating machine, which would start the way for computers.
