NYC 9/11/01 vs. New Orleans 9/2/05

OK, not to politicize, but since the left is fiddling while New Orleans burns and is flooded, here it goes......

Does anyone dare ask why NYC didn't fall into anarchy during 9/11/01? And why New Orleans is a complete madhouse? Well it's more than the WTC complex versus a whole flooded city. More than NYC being a sea level with bedrock, and NO being 12 feet below sea level.

Let's compare mayors in times of crisis.

NYC with Rudolph W Guiliani.

1. Within an hour of the WTC collapse, Rudy was on every network demanding order and calm but beforehand ordered his cops and EMS to do their work. Rudy remained calm. He did not scream or blame anyone.

2. Rudy and NYPD Commissioner Kerik implemented martial law immediately, as did Governor George Pataki by that afternoon. Any looters were going to be shot. Amazing none were, but sent to Attica for 20 years. One guy was caught stealing a dead firefighters' boots. They made the looter haul bodies then sent him to Rikers'. Any looting or lawlessness was going to be crushed.

3. Rudy and the people of NYC knew that DC got hit and maybe others would follow. NYC would be a fort until there was some semblance of calm. NYC sucked it up and did its best.

4. When 9/11 hit, Rudy and NYC Port Authority shut down all inbound traffic, and got all non-essential people off NYC or away from Southern Manhattan. This was before dusk on 9/11/01.

5. Rudy and the US government declared wage and price freezes. No fuel gouging or food hoarding.

6. Not everyone, infact most of NYC, was a Bush fan, but when the crap hit the fan blades, they knew the President, still an imperfect man, was to be the leader and needed as much backing as possible.

7. Party lines were eradicated that day. Anyone who played politics got smacked. Look at that twit Bill Maher.

Enough for you????

Now, let's look at New Orleans with Mayor Ray Nagin.

1. The Mayor and Governor were both jaws agape, pleading with people to live. They didn't, and mandatory evac was not enforced. Shame they didn't have a couple of ticked off New Yorkers running the show.

2. In New Orleans there was NO MARTIAL LAW until about 2 days after the hurricane. Looting and murder and rape are still going on, RIGHT NOW. No shoot to kill orders in NO, but in the neighboring states, Martial Law was before landfall.

3. Mayor Nagin is whining about how everyone failed but him. Nagin did not admit to not getting buses out of the flood plain area. They're all flooded and cannot go anywhere. Nagin did not suck it up and do his best, or attempt to til it was too late. They didn't act as though there would be no help for a while. NYC did.

4. Traffic was going in and out, until the worst of the storm hit. Now, since bridges are out, and roads flooded, there is no choice but shut down traffic. The state and local authorities waited too long.

5. Notice the oil prices and gouging, no price freezes yet. Mr. President, we're waiting on this one......

6. New Orleans buck passers and politicians, radicals, enviro-freaks, Democrats and RINOs are all blaming Bush for their city being in a flood zone, for levees (built to withstand Category 3 storms, not Category 4 which Katrina was), and of course global warming. The local leaders are not rallying anyone to back the troops and rescuers, instead we have Jesse Jackson and his rants. Get enough camera time, Jesse?

7. It's all political. We've had Kuwaiti officials, Hugo Chavez, Robert F Kennedy Jr., Howard Dean, and many many other knowledgable hurricane and emergency experts play the blame game, while there's still chaos and death around. Wanna wait til the bodies are recovered or buried first, boys?

Here's the key difference between NYC and NO. Conservatives save the day, stay intense, but remain calm. Liberal lose their heads, blame everyone including God, and encourage more anger and chaos.

There, enough said.

Jefferson Parish? Hmmmm. I would think NO would be a tad more left of center than that.

Points well taken. I barely mentioned the political stuff, Rudy didn't give a crap about parties on 9/11. He wanted safety.

    I need a SPAM filer.....

Not so sure I agree with the price freeze necessity, since I believe if everything else you suggested were implemented, it would likely be unnecessary.

However, you have made an excellent point in comparing the two disasters.

Of course, the liberals out there will tell you that Katrina was a natural disaster, while 9/11 was a terrorist attack. They will also tell you they were both W's fault.

    Go figure.

Mentioning Bush gets you all riled up. I was focusing on state and local authorities in this post, primarily.

FYI- Bush could only do as much as the Governor asked for. Blanco sat on her hands and did nothing. Also, mayor Nagin managed to get his ass out of the city, while many of his fellow black citizens died. Hmmmmm, leadership set the example I see....

Mooney, STFU, you useless bastard. We're talking management, and since the tribesman mayor did nil versus the Italian, I think your hangup is you hate the GOP no matter what. Stop posting you arrogant little jack off! By the way, who's doing stuff for the victims? Not the liberals. They could care less, unless it makes Bush look bad. Roast in hell, you goddamn ghoul.

Once again the left stands on piles of the dead to further their agenda.

    No class, no shame.

    Asshats.
