BILL O REILLY Tops as Journalist
I can't wait to see the expressions and comments of many who heard about this.
About 40 percent of Americans say they consider talk show host Bill O'Reilly a journalist - more than would define famed Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward the same way, according to a poll conducted this spring.
O'Reilly is on the Fox News Channel, offering his often tart conservative opinions, while Woodward has spent a career writing news stories and books. Only 30 percent of those polled said Woodward was a journalist, while 53 percent said they didn't know, despite the fact that Woodward and Carl Bernstein broke the Watergate story that ultimately led to President Nixon's resignation in 1974.
Wow. And Woodward holds himself up as a journalist as his supporters say O'Reilly is just an entertainer. I bet Al Franken is crying himself on his HUUUGE Pillow, over this one. Yes, O'Reilly did win out over Woodward.
What prompted this? Well, for one, O Reilly is on TV more, on a NEWS Channel. VISIBILITY pays off, as Woodward was on only during the recent DEEP THROAT Revelation and a year ago for his book Plan of Attack which raked the Bush Administration over the coals for Iraq and the intel leading up to it. O'Reilly, believe it or not, does try to get folks from both sides of an issue and does try to listen. Now if you're FAR OUT, rude, or cutting off Bill, then you're outta here!
I think Woodward and O Reilly are compared due to political affiliation. Woodward nailed Nixon and is critical of the Bush Administration, and was also skeptical of Reagan and Bush Sr. O'Reilly has been just as analytical, but for giving BOTH sides, he is called a CONSERVATIVE, a GOP AGENT, and so on......
O'Reilly isn't perfect, but he is the choice of this poll.
Nice work Mr. Leper-Con, to quote Michael Savage.
All in all, nice to see a somewhat conservative to moderate be rated as a top journalist.
