Axis Mounting, This happened before

Today, Syria and Iran announced an alliance against what they consider the American threat. Threat to what? Surely not peace? The threat to peace is covered by the actions of the two regimes in Syria and Iran.

Iran has admitted to having nuclear capacity and is seeking WMDs. Syria is a refuge for terrorists, and it too is seaking weapons systems. Some systems from Iraq are suspected to have made into Syria. Iran, has had nuclear reactors and missile technology sold to them, courtesy of Putin's Russia. The two were called out by President Bush in the State of The Union. Our ambassador and some staff recalled from Damascus are to brief The President. The heat is on.

However, let's not just think that the alliances are limited to the Middle East or unstable areas of Asia. Look at South America. Presidente Hugo Chavez, of Venezuela is signing a military pact with Brazil, and is brokering deals for new planes, guns, and possible missiles. Venezuela has had a de facto President since Marxist and pro-Castroite Chavez took power in 2000. Chavez has threatened America and now may have more muscle to do so. Chavez is now having the Cubans train and assist his military. Another Axis is springing up in our own back yard.

Some in the press say this is nothing to worry about. They say that Secretary of State Condeleeza Rice's comments of Chavez and others being outposts of terror, as alarmist aggression tactics. The far left is already clamboring for the US government to be recalled if the Iran situation heats up. Yes, let's change our leaders in a time of crisis. Gotta wonder if 5th Columnists are not still alive and well.

This situation is eerily familiar. In 1940, Japan, German, and Italy signed the Tripartite Pact in Berlin. The Pact of Steel pointed all aggressors towards all who stood in their way. It was mainly Great Britain in the crosshairs of Hitler, Mussolini, and Konoye, but then it became America as we helped Britain and Russia as they were attacked. A Pearl Harbor and several attacks later, America was in the Allied Pact, as the Axis had its own alliance going.

The same critics dismissed Germany and Italy as boorish powers entitled to avenge Versailles, and that America had no business in international affairs. They said leadership needed changing, and that clamboring for war was under false pretenses. I guess the USS Arizona was a rigged affair, as were the dozens of other ships and planes taken out on Sunday December 7 of 1941. Same idiots, just different times.

We've had our Pearl Harbor on September 11, 2001, and we are hitting back. However, with this Axis, whom can we count on to help us? Who is not already cowing to the strong and angry rhetoric of the Islamofascists, Castroite Marxists, and Far Left Quislings?

I don't know, but I hope we are alert to this impending threat, before a worse Pearl Harbor or September 11 hits our shores, again.
