Rome Under High Security for Papal Funeral

The Italian Air Force has jets on standby. The entire Rome police and national Carabinieri are ready for trouble. Bomb sniffing dogs are going through the historic Vatican. Anti-terrorist special forces are a stone's throw from where the procession will be. Snipers on rooftops.

Is this a war they are ready for?

No, sadly, in the post 9-11 World, even the Pope's funeral has more security than The Presidential Inauguration......
