Dan Rather is off CBS News, as of tonight
Tonight will be Dan Rather's last night as a news anchor on the CBS Nightly News. He will still be on 60 Minutes II, but no longer in the seet held by Walter Cronkite.
Here's an article on the last anchoring of Dan Rather. Some say he will leave gracefully. Others fear he may go nuts like the guy on Network.
Here is the text:
Dan Rather: A Reporter Remembers March 9, 2005CBS News will mark the end of Dan Rather's 24 years as anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News with a one-hour primetime CBS News special. The program, "Dan Rather: A Reporter Remembers," will be broadcast Wednesday, March 9, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Rather announced last November that he would step down from the broadcast on that day, exactly 24 years from his first day in the anchor chair for the broadcast. He will continue to work full-time at CBS News as a correspondent for both editions of 60 Minutes, as well as on other assignments for the division. The hour is a candid memoir of Rather's extraordinary career, told in his own words. The story spans the past 50 years of his life and of the nation's history. The special will contain never-before-seen footage from the CBS News archives. For complete coverage, click here.
